Respect

Whoa now, I guess this is some kind of "respect"!

Only two kind of motorcyclists, those that ride Harleys and those that wish they were....

Busy Weekend!

First off just heard about this Hells Canyon Rally,
"Live the Dream in Historic Baker City, Oregon" June 13th - 16th 2008.
Sure sounds like a nice area to ride, located in Northwest Oregon. Lots of interesting roads from the looks of it.

Also going on is the 31st annual Redwood Run, "The Ultimate Biker Party" a bit of a ride, down in Eureka area of Northern California but sounds fun as well.

I guess it's getting to be that time of the year, tons of stuff going on!

I say just bring it on! Looking forward to a good summer, at least with the bike I can still afford to get around, at least to some extent.

Interesting video

I have always been told to never talk to a police officer without representation, an interesting video by Professor James Duane that addresses the pitfalls of talking with investigators. Kind of scary!

Where are the sunny days!

Is it just me or do the clouds intentionally wait till the weekend to show up? Any thought on that one? No riding this weekend, been fairly busy with projects. I guess it helps to have gloomy days, no diversions from the tasks at hand. I hear the Rush concert over in the Gorge this past weekend was pretty good, of course the weather was excellent. They sure have been around for awhile. The ride over the pass is always an adventure. You can feel the heat hit you as you go over the pass. Beautiful views all the way.

"Gamma Girl" also known as a "Kid of Speed"

This girl has one of the most interesting web sites I've seen in awhile. She rides a Kawasaki Ninja, ZZR-1100 (ZX-11), a fairly good size bike. Filatova Elena Vladimirovna. She is Russian I believe and does this travelogue from her bike through the Chernobyl area, or what she can of it at least. Incredibly interesting to see what damage still persists to this day in that part of the world. She provides an excellent commentary through out the trip though just the pictures themselves are captivating. She also has a number of other of adventures on her site from that part of the world that are as interesting. Check it out!

Ocean Shores

Ocean Shores is located in Grays Harbor county on the coast in south west Washington state.

In late July there is the Sun and Surf event where Ocean Shores welcomes over thousands of motorcycles and the people who love them. Fireworks on the beach, a parade of motorcycles on Saturday and dozens of vendors are located all around the Convention Center. There are generally a couple of shows by the Seattle Cossacks.

This is a fun event for everyone. More information can be found at the Sun and Surf 2008 site, the event will happen this year on the 25th of July thru the 27th. Proceeds from this event benefit the MDA. I had a couple of photos from past trips to Ocean Shores, none however, from my trips to the event itself. During Sun n Surf there are bikes all over the place.

I’ve been to a few of these and they can be a lot of fun, as long as the weather holds. There are lots of excellent roads in the vicinity. I actually only spent a day in Ocean Shores, most of my time was spent out riding the local roads. I especially like the road north to Pacific Beach, nice curvy road right along the ocean front.

Some of the local wild life....at least the wild life that I could show...

Memorial Day

I hope everyone got a chance to get out to honor our fallen veterans or at least took a few moments to reflect on their sacrifice.

This year, like every other year, the United States is celebrating Memorial Day in a big way. For those across the world that do not know what Memorial Day stands for and its significance in American life, here is a brief introduction to this special American holiday.

Memorial Day was originally called Decoration Day. It is a day on which America remembers those of its citizens who sacrificed their lives serving their country. America celebrates this day on the last Monday of May each year, and the celebrations, spread across the country, are all towards respecting the dead.

There are usually Memorial Day services, veterans’ parades, citizen’s parades, candlelight vigils, and other related activities. (Daisy Sarma - Money Times)

Rolling Thunder makes an appearance in DC. That many bikes is an impressive sight!

The bike show

The weather held out and turned out to be a beautiful day last Sunday. There were bikes out thru out the area as an estimated turnout of over 15,000 showed up in Old Snohomish for the 12th annual show. The world renowned Seattle Cossacks also made an appearance for their always entertaining show. What a great way to open the riding season!
Thanks to the Everett Herald for some great photos!

Biker or Not

BMW and Madonna

Incredibly funny video unless you are a big Madonna fan. Then again her husband Guy Ritchie did direct the video. Got to admit the Beemer in the video seems to be quite a handling ride. If nothing else the BMW is a nice ride.... for a foreign car.....

Spyder

Something new that has come out, sort of a three wheeled contraption, actually looks kind of interesting. Not that I need three wheels but this seems like it could be a fun ride, something a

bit different. I'll bet you would get some looks! Look, you can even ride two up!

May 18th the Old Snhomish Bike show, not sure what's planned for the weather but if it's nice, Look out! A great time can be had, usually a really good turnout unless the weather fails to cooperate. Nice little town overrun by bikes, lots of vendors, bands, bike shows and whatever.

I love my truck

I have a 1997 F-150 Supercab that has 80 k miles. I bought it new from the Ford truck assembly plant in Norfolk, VA. I took the tour of the plant and was most impressed. I have been more impressed with the truck. It has been good to me, never left me stranded. Still going strong!

A fine weekend it was!

Saturday had some excellent sunshine! It was a great day to be out on the Harley. Didn't get a whole lot of riding in but at least got out on the road and get the battery charged and fresh gas in. It turned into a lousy rainy day Sunday so awful glad I took the opportunity to get out when I did. Looks to be a wet week so glad I was able to enjoy it when I did!
